Welcome!

As Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin, I’m excited to be serving as chair of Governor Evers’ Task Force on Climate Change.

Through my work and travels as Lieutenant Governor, I have witnessed firsthand the impacts the climate crisis is having on our communities, our health, and our economy. I have met with farmers whose livelihoods were destroyed by extreme weather events. I have heard from local officials who are gravely concerned about how climate change will affect local tourism. I have learned from health professionals that the climate crisis is the largest public health threat we face. And I have talked with so many people who are worried that their children and grandchildren will not be able to experience the outdoors the way they did and carry on our proud traditions of hunting, fishing, and hiking.

It’s a sad reality, but we cannot afford to let the gravity of this crisis paralyze us. This moment requires action, and I’m proud that this administration is committed to embracing science and taking the necessary steps to address this crisis.

Our bi-partisan task force brings together a diverse coalition of representatives from agriculture, the business community, Native Nations, utility companies, labor groups, youth, and other industries and communities from across the state.

We are charting a path to meet our goal of 100% carbon-free energy by 2050, while improving the state's economy and environment, diversifying the resources used to meet the state's energy needs, and generating family-supporting jobs.

And throughout this work, we are maintaining a lens of environmental justice, so that communities of color and low-income communities—who too often experience the first and worst consequences of climate change—are part of the conversation and the solution.

Neither I, nor this Task Force, can do this work alone. It will take all of us working together to create the momentum needed to achieve our climate goals and restore our natural environment. With your help, we will make this state, and this planet, a place where everyone grows up in a safe and clean environment and has the opportunity to thrive, no matter their ZIP code.
